reasons to be cheerful

In a weekend TV schedule haunted by 9/11, it was relief indeed to head to the frankly barmy world of the Hollyoaks omnibus.

There was much joy to be had, particularly Ravi’s brain tumour storyline, which took an unexpected Fight Club turn,

Here’s our fave bits:

  • Ravi’s illegal chav bare knuckle boxing in the woods: slavering dogs, burning cars, Phil Mitchell-alikes…b-b-b-b-bonkers
  • The return of Bad Ash (though did he ever really go away?) -giving Loretta a jowly mauling, a hitherto undisclosed career as an illegal chav bare knuckle boxing promoter, questioning Ravi’s sanity and finally decking the aneurysmed one in the heed in a Caine and Abel kinda way.
  • Des the Geordie teacher arrives in the village and promptly has a go on a McQueen (Jacqui), as all men new to the village are wont to do – see also Mark Gascoyne, Malachy, Tony, Russ, Kris, Calvin,Warren et al…
  • Ravi makes amends for slapping Leila around by presenting her with some H Samuel tat
  • Jacqui returns: barren and looking for love
  • Tony wandering around the village aimlessly with a bunch of roses for a WHOLE EPISODE
  • Newt’s offensive t-shirt, though sadly it was obscured by T4. We can only guess what it said. We hope it was something deeply profane.
  • The word ‘craniotomy’, what Ravi is having done to his noggin. So good we googled it. And promptly wished we hadnt as we found this. If you can stomach it, behold the music and the editing, facking amazing.
  • Carmel’s psychotic infiltration of HCC – first pretending to be Theresa, the next coaching the cheerleading squad. Run away!

The ‘Oaks. You gotta love it.
