nominate WLH in the 2011 Bloggies!

Here at WLH we have a complex relationship with competitions.

You see, the only time we’ve ever won anything was a school art competition when we were 8. The prize was comprised of two parts, part 1: a bike = yay. Part 2: the honour of formally opening the new Presto supermarket that had recently been built nearby – not so yay. Which meant that before we could get our hands on our beautiful new bike (called Solitaire. Like the Bond girl), we first had to stand alongside the Mayor as we cut the ceremonial ribbon to the brand new fruit and veg aisle, while the local newspaper took photos and two dozen bored and resentful supermarket staff looked on.

We digress. The point is that since that humiliating incident (which left us with a life long fear of art, regional supermarkets and ribbons) we haven’t entered any competitions and certainly haven’t won any.

But in 2011 this is going to change!

Well, maybe. Because nominations are now open for the annual Weblog Awards (or Bloggies as they are also known) and we fancy a bit of that action, especially because the winners, as far as we can tell, don’t have to participate in any ceremonies involving local dignitaries.

So it with a song in our heart and minimal anxiety that we are asking YOU, beloved WLH fans, to nominate us for this year’s awards!

what to do

Nominating is very simple:

• Just go to the Bloggies website
• Nominate WLH in all categories you see fit (blogs may be nominated for multiple categories). We suggest entertainment, humorous, best kept secret and (if you think we’re worthy) weblog of the year
• Note that for each category you must nominate three blogs (a bit of a hassle but nevermind)
• You’ll also need a valid email address
• Sorted!

what happens next

Nominations are open until 16th January, so expect us to be harping on about this A LOT. On 1st February the finalists are announced, after which you’ll have until 20th February to vote for your favourites. LIKE X-FACTOR but without the creeping sense of disappointment. The winners will be announced on 27th February.

VERY EXCITING.

So yes, please nominate us and help dispel the memory of a 17 year old deli counter worker glaring at us balefully.
